ELPD investigating fatal crash at Saginaw Street, Harrison Road intersection

EAST LANSING, Mich. (Mid Michigan Gazette) — The East Lansing Police Department is investigating a deadly crash at the intersection of Saginaw Street and Harrison Road.

According to police, the incident took place at the intersection shortly after 2:00 p.m.

As of 3:58 p.m. on June 3, 2026, ELPD confirms that there has been one person who died as a result of the crash. Three others were transported to nearby hospitals with possible serious injuries.

Mid Michigan Gazette saw nearly a dozen police vehicles from area departments responding to the scene at around 2:30 p.m.

According to a social media post from Ingham County Central Dispatch, traffic headed eastbound on Saginaw was being rerouted at Cooldige Road.

It is unclear how many vehicles were involved.

Police are advising drivers to avoid the area while investigators look into the factors of the crash. They also ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or has a camera in their car that may have recorded the crash, to contact ELPD Detective Katey Harrison at kharris@cityofeastlansing.com
