One dead following crash near Eaton Rapids, MSP confirms

EATON RAPIDS, Mich. (Mid Michigan Gazette) — One person has died following a crash involving two vehicles at an intersection near Eaton Rapids on Thursday evening, according to an update on a social media post from the Michigan State Police (MSP).

The intersection of Island Hwy. and Canal Rd. was shut down around 6:30 p.m. as troopers investigated a two-car “serious traffic crash,” according to the initial social media post. The intersection has since reopened.

Mid Michigan Gazette arrived at the scene to find multiple first responders around 7:20 p.m. This included a handful of MSP vehicles with firetrucks blocking and rerouting traffic.

The MSP has not identified the deceased individual, and it is unclear at this time how many other people are involved and what their conditions are.

State police said they will be releasing additional information soon.
