FOWLERVILLE, Mich. (Mid Michigan Gazette) — One person is dead following a shooting incident on Nicholson Rd. in Fowlerville.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office said it was called out to the 5500 block of Nicholson Rd. in Fowlerville around 7:09 p.m. on Dec. 25, 2025.
Deputies were responding to a call of suspicious activity and shots fired. Upon arrival, they found an armed man who had gunshot wounds and later died at the scene.
The homeowner also had gunshot wounds, according to the sheriff’s office, and was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials added that the preliminary investigation shows that the deceased male subject entered the residence and fired several shots at the homeowner, which hit him twice. The homeowner returned fire, striking the subject.
The Mid Michigan Gazette arrived in the area around 9:55 p.m. and saw nearly a dozen law enforcement vehicles with their lights flashing and police tape around a home.
The fatal shooting victim has been identified as the estranged husband of a female acquaintance who was visiting the homeowner at the time of the incident, according to a press release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office. The subject reportedly traveled around one hour from the Lake Orion area to the Fowlerville residence.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the shooting.
